About Us

About Our Lady of Grace School

Our History
Our Lady of Grace Parish opened in 1949. Our Lady of Grace School was established in 1960 under the leadership of Monsignor Markham, the second Pastor of Our Lady of Grace Parish. The Our Lady of Grace parishioners were so committed to the project that 6 months after the capital campaign began, the school was ready to open. Three sisters of the Daughters of the Holy Spirit opened the school with 104 students in three classrooms and four grades (first through fourth grade). The first eighth-grade class graduated in June 1965. The Daughters of the Holy Spirit maintained a presence at the school for many decades. Today, a former principal of the school still volunteers.
Accreditation
Our Lady of Grace School enjoys accreditation granted by the Western Catholic Educational Association (WCEA) and the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC). These Associations are non-governmental, nationally recognized organizations whose members include elementary schools through collegiate institutions offering post-graduate instruction. Accreditation of an institution by these associations indicates that it meets or exceeds criteria for the assessment of institutional quality periodically applied through a peer review process. An accredited school or college/university is one which has available the necessary resources to achieve its stated purposes through appropriate educational programs, is substantially doing so, and gives clear evidence that it will continue to do so in the foreseeable future.
Mission Statement

The school’s mission is to provide students with the opportunities for academic excellence and the necessary foundation to become successful members of our society. One way that Our Lady of Grace School defines success is in the ability to give back to a community. Our school strives to instill in each student a strong perception of self-worth and respect. Students are taught at an early age that giving of themselves in service, whether through time, physical efforts, creative abilities, or emotional support, is a true expression of Gospel values. A high-quality educational experience is recognized in the community as an OLG tradition.
Letter from the Principal

Letter of Welcome
Dear Our Lady of Grace Families,
It is my pleasure to welcome both those new and returning to Our Lady of Grace School. We are proud to provide a well-rounded curriculum modeled by the teachings of Jesus. We strive to continue many of the rich traditions that began when Our Lady of Grace School opened with the Daughters of the Holy Spirit.
With a focus on academic excellence, we aspire to help students become lifelong learners. In addition to a rigorous curriculum, students will develop their creativity through visual and performing arts, engage in technology, build skills of empathy and cooperation through our social-emotional curriculum, and gain knowledge of important virtues and values in our religious curriculum.
On behalf of the faculty, staff, and administration, I thank you for your continuous support of our school and the Our Lady of Grace community. I promise to do only my best, and love from the heart in a community rooted in gospel values!
Faith, Love, and Family,
Casey Valine
