Our Lady of Grace School was founded in 1960 by the Daughters of the Holy Spirit. At the time of its inception, Our Lady of Grace School stood out as a beacon for educational and spiritual growth in the West Sacramento region. In the 1960’s there was a clear view to the Capital and Downtown Sacramento while Our Lady of Grace School (OLG) stood alone in the farming town of West Sacramento, shining brightly for our local community to see. Now that West Sacramento is a thriving city with a growing population, Our Lady of Grace may not stand alone, but clearly shines brighter than ever as the premier educational institution andspiritual formation entity in our area.
We have built upon the foundation set over 50 years ago and continue to produce successful academic, spirit-filled and highly productive lifelong learners that truly represent the motto we hold: Only our best, Love from the heart, Gospel values.
When I arrived as Principal in 2006, I was immediately struck by the opportunity for impact that OLG provided for the students in our community. As the population grew, so too did our potential to bring into the fold more quality students, teachers and families. Since 2006, the student enrollment at OLG has increased by nearly 100 students during a time when Catholic Schools have been typically seeing drastic declines in enrollment. We are unique in the fact that we are continuing to grow each yearand I find this to be a direct result of the dedication of our faculty, staff, parents, students, local businesses and the city officials of West Sacramento or more commonly referred to as the OLG Family.
The fabric of the community and the fact that our school is not just a school but also a social and spiritual hub for many generations of West Sacramentans make us a place that can truly form the whole child, both inside the classroom and out.
